Hummingbirds represent the element of Air, and therefore take on the meaning of the Air element, which is associated with intelligence, higher thought processes, logic and the ability to see the “big picture.”

The pattern created when a hummingbird flaps their wings is the symbol for infinity, which explains why they are a symbol of eternity, infinity and continuity. They are also symbols of persistence because they are constantly on the move, just like our Doctor.
